CONGRATULATING Hunter Montgomery upon the occasion
of capturing both the NYSPHSAA Section II 2019 Boys
Slalom and Giant Slalom Championship

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, A standout ski racer for the Queensbury Spartans, Hunter
Montgomery won his second consecutive state championship in the Boys
Slalom with a time of 1:30.61 on Monday, February 25, 2019, at Gore
Mountain Ski Resort in North Creek, New York; and

WHEREAS, The following day, Hunter Montgomery was also victorious in
the Giant Slalom race with a time of 2:18.98, making him the overall New
York State winner in the Alpine Combined; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by Hunter Montgomery is due
in great part to the efforts of Head Coach Bob Underwood and Alpine
Assistant Coach Steve Jackson, skilled and inspirational tutors,
respected for their ability to develop potential into excellence; and

WHEREAS, Hunter Montgomery's overall record is outstanding; he was
loyally and enthusiastically supported by his family, teammates, friends
and the community at large; and

WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, Hunter Montgomery has proven
himself to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favorably
on his school; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Bob Underwood and Alpine Assistant Coach Steve
Jackson have done a superb job in guiding, molding and inspiring Hunter
Montgomery towards his goals; and

WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Hunter Montgomery has clearly made a
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his
school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Hunter Montgomery upon the occasion of capturing both the
NYSPHSAA Section II 2019 Boys Slalom and Giant Slalom Championship; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Hunter Montgomery, Head Coach Bob Underwood, and Alpine
Assistant Coach Steve Jackson.
