HONORING Lucia's Angels upon the occasion of its
designation for special recognition by the North
Fork Breast Health Coalition on April 5, 2019

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals and organizations it wishes to
recognize for their valued contributions to the success and progress of
society and publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the
basic humanity among us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lucia's
Angels upon the occasion of its designation for special recognition by
the North Fork Breast Health Coalition to be celebrated at its Fifth
Annual Pink Pearl Gala on Friday, April 5, 2019, at East Wind, Wading
River, New York; and

WHEREAS, Lucia's Angels is a foundation committed to helping women
and families on Eastern Long Island with late-stage women's cancers
including breast cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer and uterine
cancer; and

WHEREAS, This vital foundation was created in loving memory of Lucia
Terzi Bagan, a giving woman with a big heart who, while surrounded by
family and friends, made a wish in her final days that other women and
their families could have the same love and support through their
toughest times; and

WHEREAS, Lucia's Angels has provided countless individuals with help
and funding for: gasoline gift cards, grocery gift cards, heating bills,
dental work, housecleaning, rent, eyeglasses, food trains, babysitting,
heating bills, health insurance premiums, automobile repair, ambulatory
trips, therapeutic massage, transportation, salon services and wigs; and

WHEREAS, From special wishes like one more trip to the beach, to
providing extra child-care, to the holding of a hand, Lucia's spirit and
Angels will be there; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, Lucia's Angels has
demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities which
it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of Lucia's Angels is in direct correlation to
the efforts of its President and Co-Founder Stacy Quarty, as well as
Co-Founder Susie Barry Roden, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the organization and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Lucia's Angels; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lucia's Angels upon the occasion of its designation for special
recognition by the North Fork Breast Health Coalition on April 5, 2019;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Stacy Quarty and Susie Barry Roden, Lucia's Angels.
