HONORING Lorraine Houk upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by The Food
Pantries on April 16, 2019

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lorraine
Houk upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by The
Food Pantries to be celebrated at its 40th Anniversary Luncheon on
Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at Shaker Ridge Country Club, Albany, New York;
and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Houk has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; she is being recognized for her
extraordinary contributions to the mission of The Food Pantries; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Houk, along with her sister Valerie, has run the
bake and kitchen sale at the Community Auction for more than 20 years;
in addition, she serves as the Coordinator at both First Church and
Interfaith Food Pantry in Albany; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Lorraine Houk has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Lorraine Houk has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Lorraine Houk, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lorraine Houk upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by The Food Pantries on April 16, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lorraine Houk.
