COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of the Kiwanis
Club of Auburn, New York on April 9, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those fraternal organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Kiwanis Club of Auburn, New
York, to be celebrated on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at the Springside Inn,
Auburn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to
changing the world, one child and one community at a time; and

WHEREAS, The six permanent objectives of Kiwanis International are
to: give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material
values of life; encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all
human relationships; promote the adoption and the application of higher
social, business, and professional standards; develop, by precept and
example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship;
provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring
friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better
communities; and cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public
opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of
righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill; and

WHEREAS, The Kiwanis Club of Auburn, New York was established on
November 13, 1919; and

WHEREAS, Remaining true to its century old mission of "Serving the
Children of the World," the members of the Kiwanis Club of Auburn
sponsor two annual scholarships, the Glenn Mosher Scholarship and the
Youth Scholarship, positively impacting the lives of countless local
students; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, for more than 30 years, this vital
organization has held its Annual Duck Derby on Memorial Day; since its
inception, this event has awarded more than $750,000 to local causes and
organizations; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 100-year history, the Kiwanis Club
of Auburn has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and
communities which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Kiwanis Club of Auburn is in direct
correlation to the efforts of President Christy Robinson-Curran,
President-Elect Lisa Carr, Secretary Karen Lockwood, Treasurer Dorothea
Hughes and Immediate Past President Brenda Costello, as well as its
dedicated members, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and

an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the organization and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Kiwanis Club of
Auburn; and

WHEREAS, In light of its commitment, dedication and successful
efforts, it is the custom of this Legislative Body to extend its highest
commendation to the Kiwanis Club of Auburn, New York; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Kiwanis Club of Auburn, New
York on April 9, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Christy Robinson-Curran, President, Kiwanis Club of
Auburn, New York.
