COMMENDING Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.-Delta
Mu Omega chapter upon the occasion of hosting its
Annual Gospel Brunch on April 14, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations within the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.-Delta Mu Omega chapter upon the
occasion of hosting its Annual Gospel Brunch, "Raise the Roof for Our
Community," on Sunday, April 14, 2019, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Troy,
New York; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious event is designed to bring awareness to the
increasing financial crisis that many promising local youth face as they
prepare for a college education; and

WHEREAS, Delta Mu Omega, through its foundation, Pearls of the
Capital Region, is steadfastly committed to raising the ceiling of
opportunities for its community by continuing to provide educational
scholarships and community giving; for more than four decades, this
vital organization has provided scholarship funds for deserving,
college-bound women in the Capital District Region; and

WHEREAS, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. had its humble beginnings
as the vision of nine college students on the campus of Howard
University in 1908; and

WHEREAS, Since then, the sorority has flourished into a globally
impactful organization of over 290,000 college-trained members, bound by
the bonds of sisterhood and empowered by a commitment to
servant-leadership which is both domestic and international in its
scope; and

WHEREAS, As Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has grown, it has
maintained its focus in two key arenas: the lifelong personal and
professional development of each of its members, and galvanizing its
membership into an organization of respected power and influence; and

WHEREAS, The Delta Mu Omega graduate chapter was chartered in 1947
to specifically service the Capital Region; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, the Delta Mu Omega chapter has awarded
thousands of dollars in scholarships to help aspiring youth further
their education, growth, and development; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Delta Mu Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa
Alpha Sorority, Inc. is in direct correlation to the efforts of its
dedicated members, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and

an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the sorority and the population it serves; and

WHEREAS, In light of its commitment, dedication, and successful
efforts, it is the practice of this Legislative Body to extend its
highest commendation to the Delta Mu Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha
Sorority, Inc.; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.-Delta Mu Omega chapter upon the
occasion of hosting its Annual Gospel Brunch on April 14, 2019; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.-Delta Mu Omega chapter,
Albany, New York.
