CONGRATULATING the Niskayuna Boys Swimming and
Diving Team and Head Coach Dan Tanski on capturing
the NYSPHSAA Championships

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the Niskayuna Boys Swimming and Diving Team and Head Coach
Dan Tanski upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Championship at
the Nassau County Aquatic Center on March 2, 2019; and

WHEREAS, The team secured their crown with a 189-183 victory over
Great Neck South, and have now won their second New York State team
championship, and first since 2005; and

WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of red and grey,
family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically
supported the Silver Warriors throughout their journey as they finished
the season with an impressive Dual Meet record of 7-1, and won 7 of 12
events at the Section 2 Championship Meet; and

WHEREAS, In sports such as swimming and diving, which demands
discipline, concentration and agility, Head Coach Dan Tanski and his
experienced coaching staff worked hard to hone the skills of this
championship team, teaching these outstanding athletes lessons which
will prove invaluable both in and out of the pool; and

WHEREAS, Coach Dan Tanski and all of the outstanding athletes on the
Niskayuna Boys Swimming and Diving Team have clearly utilized
dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a lasting
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Niskayuna Boys Swimming and Diving Team:
Cameron Goodspeed, Scott Ward, Bryan Liu, Mark Lipkin, Victor Schingo,
Matt Chao, and Conor Compton; and Head Coach Dan Tanski on their
outstanding season and overall team record; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Niskayuna Boys Swimming and
DivingTeam, Head Coach Dan Tanski, Director of Physical Education and

Athletics Larry Gillooley, Principal John W. Rickert, and Superintendent
Cosimo Tangorra
