HONORING the Discover Niagara Shuttle upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the
Industry Insider Award for Tourism by the Niagara
USA Chamber

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those businesses which substantially contribute to the
economic vitality of their communities and the entire Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
the Discover Niagara Shuttle upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the Industry Insider Award for Tourism by the Niagara USA
Chamber to be celebrated at its 2019 Awards Ceremony at the Seneca
Niagara Resort & Casino, Niagara Falls, New York, on Friday, March 15,
2019; and

WHEREAS, The Niagara USA Chamber is proud to celebrate business
excellence in the Niagara Region; and

WHEREAS, Through the efforts of the Niagara Falls National Heritage
area, headed up by Sara Capen, the Discover Niagara Shuttle took its
first ride three years ago in 2016; and

WHEREAS, The Discover Niagara Shuttle has connected more than
100,000 visitors and residents to 17 destinations along the Niagara
river corridor, traveling all the way from old fort Niagara in
Youngstown, through Lewiston, along the Niagara gorge, and all the way
to the city of Niagara Falls and its beautiful parks and natural
wonders; and

WHEREAS, It has been reported that operation of the Discover Niagara
Shuttle has injected $35,000,000 into the Niagara County economy in just
the first season alone; and

WHEREAS, The Discover Niagara Shuttle, a friendly and fun way to see
Niagara County, is the quintessential selection for the prestigious
Industry Insider Award for Tourism; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
entertaining means of transportation of such enjoyable purposes are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Discover Niagara Shuttle upon the occasion of its designation
as recipient of the Industry Insider Award for Tourism by the Niagara
USA Chamber; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Discover Niagara Shuttle.
