COMMENDING Jack Simons upon the occasion of his
induction into the Liberty Central School District
Wall of Fame on June 28, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those distinguished citizens who devote their time and
energies to the service of their community and profession, participating
in civic affairs and enhancing the character and quality of life for all
citizens; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Jack Simons upon the occasion of his induction into the Liberty
Central School District Wall of Fame to be celebrated with an evening
reception on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Liberty High School, Liberty, New
York; and

WHEREAS, The Liberty Central School District Wall of Fame was
created by the Board of Education as a way to honor and celebrate the
outstanding accomplishments of the graduates of the school district and
the daughters and sons of its community; and

WHEREAS, Jack Simons has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, A member of the Class of 1951, Jack Simons valiantly served
his country in Korea, and was subsequently awarded the Combat Infantry
Badge and the Purple Heart; and

WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his military service, Jack Simons
was employed by the United States Post Office in Liberty for 12 years,
before working for Prudential Insurance Company for 22 years; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unremitting commitment to his
community, Jack Simons was a former Liberty Town Supervisor and
President of the Greater Liberty Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, In addition to this prestigious recognition, Jack Simons
was named the 1998 Veterans of Foreign War's Citizen of the Year and the
2001 Greater Liberty Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Jack Simons stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Jack Simons has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent

of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Jack Simons, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Jack Simons upon the occasion of his induction into the Liberty
Central School District Wall of Fame on June 28, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jack Simons.
