HONORING Trooper Fabio D. Daino upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of the William V.
McDonagh Community Service Award by the New York
State Police on May 9, 2019

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Trooper
Fabio D. Daino upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
William V. McDonagh Community Service Award by the New York State
Police to be celebrated at its 43rd Annual Superintendent's Commendation
and Awards Day Ceremony on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the State Police
Academy in Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, This prestigious award was established in honor of the late
Trooper William V. McDonagh, who was killed in the line of duty on
December 14, 1975; Trooper McDonagh participated in numerous worthy
events and tirelessly worked to better his community; Trooper Fabio D.
Daino truly epitomizes Trooper McDonagh's ideals and beliefs; and

WHEREAS, Trooper Fabio D. Daino has proudly served as a member of
the New York State Police since October 30, 2000; he is currently
assigned to State Police Riverside, Troop L; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his role as a public servant, Trooper Fabio
D. Daino is a dedicated member of his community, volunteering his time
and energies to both the Southampton Town Police Explorer Program and
the Boy Scouts of America Troop 94; and

WHEREAS, Trooper Fabio D. Daino is actively involved with the
Explorer Program's Shop with a Cop Program, which strives to break down
the barriers between the community and the police with the intent of
developing a better and more trusting relationship; and

WHEREAS, In this capacity, Trooper Fabio D. Daino helps kids shop
for school supplies at the beginning of the new school year, and for
toys and clothes during the holidays; and

WHEREAS, Trooper Fabio D. Daino also serves as a mentor for
approximately 40 Scouts from Troop 94; he helps them attain various
merit badges and speaks with older scouts about the dangers of drinking
and driving and the use of illegal narcotics; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Trooper Fabio D. Daino has
displayed throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the

recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Trooper Fabio D. Daino upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the William V. McDonagh Community Service Award by the New
York State Police on May 9, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Trooper Fabio D. Daino.
