COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of Chenango
Sales Inc. on December 18, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the
important milestones in those businesses within the State of New York
which have contributed to the economic health and vitality of the
communities they serve; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Chenango Sales Inc. on Wednesday,
December 18, 2019; and

WHEREAS, For the past 100 years, Chenango Sales of Greene, New York
has proudly offered quality products and outstanding service to its
customers, many of whom have passed the tradition of owning a Ford from
the dealership down through their families; today's sales are made to
many grand and great-grandchildren of the original patrons; and

WHEREAS, On December 18, 1919, mechanic J. W. Doolittle, opened a
Ford sales and service station on South Chenango Street, under the name
of Chenango Sales Co.; he promised to provide the best service possible
by operating an up-to-date service station, and maintaining a stock room
carrying a complete line of Ford Parts; and

WHEREAS, Chenango Sales' legacy for quality and customer service was
carried on through its ownership by Russell and Donald Rheubotton from
1960-1967, Jim Barton and Gordon Hinman from 1967-2000, and to this day,
by its current owners Byron E. Miller and James M. Bleyle; and

WHEREAS, Chenango Sales has sold both Ford and Mercury products,
until 2010, when Mercury stopped production of its cars; throughout the
last century, the dealership has sold everything from the 1919 Model T
to the 2019 Mustang Bullitt and the GT Supercar; and

WHEREAS, Chenango Sales is currently a top seller of Ford trucks in
New York State, and with an inventory topping $2,000,000 in new and used
cars, it is the most successful Ford dealership in Chenango County; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Chenango Sales has become a trusted
source for multiple generations of south central New York families who
have come to appreciate this remarkable company's caring concern and
attention to detail; and

WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of owners Byron E. Miller and
James M. Bleyle, remains committed to offering the finest service and
products to the Greene area and beyond for many years to come; and

WHEREAS, The success of Chenango Sales over the years is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its management and staff, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of

excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the company and the community
it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Chenango Sales Inc.; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Byron E. Miller and James M. Bleyle, Owners, Chenango
Sales Inc.
