HONORING Mark Behan upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Ninth Annual Henry
Crandall Award by the Crandall Public Library on
September 28, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who would devote their life's work
and purpose to community service, contributing to the welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Mark Behan upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Ninth Annual Henry Crandall Award by Crandall Public Library to be
celebrated at this year's Gala on Friday, September 28, 2018, at the
Hiland Park Country Club, Queensbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Henry Crandall Award recognizes one individual each
year who has demonstrated the values and legacy of Library founder Henry
Crandall (1821-1913), including generosity, perseverance, loyalty,
compassion, civic pride and philanthropy; recipients of this illustrious
award have significantly affected the improvement of the community and
have demonstrated profound commitment to Crandall Public Library; and
WHEREAS, A former board member of Crandall Library, Mark Behan
founded the public relations firm Behan Communications in Glens Falls 30
years ago after a career in the newspaper industry; and
WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mark Behan serves as Vice Chairman
of the Board of Governors of Glens Falls Hospital, co-Vice Chairman of
the Board of Trustees of The Hyde Collection, a member of the board of
the Glens Falls Foundation, and a Director of both the Glens Falls
National Bank and Trust Company and Arrow Financial Corporation; and
WHEREAS, Previously, Mark Behan served on the boards of the Chapman
Historical Museum, EDC Warren County, the Adirondack Regional Chambers
of Commerce, the E. Leo Spain Foundation, Kelly's Angels Inc. and St.
Mary's-St. Alphonsus Regional Catholic School; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Mark Behan has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records this tribute to
Mark Behan, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mark Behan upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Ninth Annual Henry Crandall Award by Crandall Public Library on
September 28, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mark Behan.
