COMMENDING Mohawk Valley Latino Association, Inc.
upon the occasion of hosting its 14th Annual Latino
Festival, in conjunction with the observance of
Hispanic Heritage Month on August 25, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body, in keeping with
its time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those
organizations which foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of
cultural diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of
New York State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Mohawk Valley Latino Association, Inc. upon the occasion of
hosting its 14th Annual Latino Festival, in conjunction with the
observance of Hispanic Heritage Month; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious event, which will be celebrated on Sunday,
August 25, 2019, is an opportunity for visitors from other communities
to celebrate Latin culture in the Mohawk Valley; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Mohawk Valley Latino Association
has strived to improve the standards of living for all residents of the
Mohawk Valley through various services which will educate and empower
them, to achieve awareness amongst the different cultures of the Mohawk
Valley, and to help shape the minds of their youth and demonstrate to
them the great opportunities available within the Mohawk Valley and
their Nation; and

WHEREAS, This vital organization has pledged to accept and abide by
three principles as timeless guidelines for aiding the lives of others:
give people the opportunity to improve their mind, body, and spirit;
reach out to the people of the community we serve, especially those that
find it difficult to enhance their quality of life; and remain committed
to serving as a non-profit organization; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Mohawk Valley Latino Association is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its Chairman/Executive Director
Carmen Sonia Martinez, the Executive Board, and staff, whose involvement
is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the institution and the community it serves;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
organizations which enhance the well-being and vitality of their
community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence
certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Mohawk Valley Latino Association, Inc. upon the occasion of
hosting its 14th Annual Latino Festival, in conjunction with the

observance of Hispanic Heritage Month on August 25, 2019; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Carmen Sonia Martinez, Chairman/Executive Director,
Mohawk Valley Latino Association, Inc.
