HONORING Bob McKeveny upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2019 Lifetime
Achievement Award by the Seneca County Chamber of
Commerce on January 16, 2020
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those distinguished citizens who would devote their life's work
and purpose to community service, contributing to the welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Bob McKeveny upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2019 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Seneca County Chamber of
Commerce, to be celebrated at its Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony on
Thursday, January 16, 2020, in The Vine Theater at Del Lago Resort and
Casino in Waterloo, New York; and
WHEREAS, Bob McKeveny is receiving this prestigious award for his
demonstrated involvement in the community and his substantial role in
the growth of Seneca County as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Bob McKeveny was born to Catherine and the late Robert
McKeveny on May 17, 1958, in Brooklyn, New York; after graduating from
Farmingdale High School in 1976, he earned his bachelor's degree in
Elementary Education from SUNY Geneseo; and
WHEREAS, In 1985, Bob McKeveny obtained his master's degree in
reading from SUNY Brockport, and in 2005, he successfully completed the
Superintendent Development Program at SUNY Oswego; and
WHEREAS, Bob McKeveny began his long and distinguished career in
education as an elementary teacher with the Warsaw Central School
District in 1983; nine years later, he joined the staff of Seneca Falls
Central School District, holding the titles of Principal of Frank Knight
Elementary School from 1992-1996, and Principal of Seneca Falls Middle
School from 1996-2008; and
WHEREAS, Bob McKeveny then assumed the role of esteemed
Superintendent of the District, a position he held until his official
retirement in 2019, after almost four decades as an educator; and
WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unremitting commitment to his
profession, Bob McKeveny was inducted into the Mynderse Academy Athletic
Hall of Fame in October of 2019, and was the recipient of the New York
State Senate Commendation Award, the Genesee Valley Association of
Curriculum and Staff Development Service Award, the William Deming
Service to Education Award, the Administrator of the Year Award by the
New York State FCCLA, and the George Bailey Humanitarian Award; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his role as an educator, Bob McKeveny has
been a vital member of his community serving with numerous organizations
including the Seneca Falls DRI Presentation Team, the Seneca Falls
Rotary, United Way of Seneca County, Cornell Cooperative Extension,
University of Rochester Leadership Coach and Strategic Plan Team, and
the Seneca Museum of Waterways and Industry; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Linda, and their
two sons, Matthew (Jessica) and Colin; one daughter, Molly (Matthew);
and two grandchildren, Finn and Mae, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Bob McKeveny upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Seneca County Chamber of
Commerce on January 16, 2020; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Bob McKeveny.
