HONORING Dr. Elizabeth Barbi upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2019 Rising Star
Award by the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce on
January 16, 2020

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those individuals within the medical field who
distinguish themselves through professional excellence and who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life of citizens in the
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dr. Elizabeth Barbi upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2019 Rising Star Award by the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce, to
be celebrated at its Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Thursday,
January 16, 2020, in The Vine Theater at Del Lago Resort and Casino in
Waterloo, New York; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Elizabeth Barbi is receiving this prestigious award for
her outstanding contributions to her profession and her steadfast
dedication to improving the quality of life for others in her community;
and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Barbi was born to Linda and Lewis Barbi on
November 28, 1987, in Geneva, New York, where she attended high school
in Lyons, New York; and

WHEREAS, After graduating, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree
in Biology from the State University of New York at Geneseo and her
Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Stony Brook University School of
Dental Medicine; she furthered her education by obtaining both her
Orthodontic Certificate and Master of Science degree in Dental Science
from the University of Rochester; and

WHEREAS, From 2015-2017, Dr. Elizabeth Barbi worked for Kaufman
Orthodontics; she then joined Littlejohn Orthodontics where she recently
became a partner, and the business was renamed Littlejohn & Barbi
Orthodontics; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her distinguished career thus far, Dr. Elizabeth
Barbi has strived to make her community and world a better place; since
January of 2018 she has been a board member for the Boys and Girls Club
of Geneva and has held the position of Chair of its Program Committee
since January of 2019; and

WHEREAS, As part of her global effort, Dr. Elizabeth Barbi traveled
to Madagascar in 2012 to provide dental treatment to its underserved
citizens; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband Dr. Joseph Russo
and their daughter, Vera, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of
her life and rejoice in her achievements; and


WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Elizabeth Barbi upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the 2019 Rising Star Award by the Seneca County Chamber of
Commerce on January 16, 2020; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Elizabeth Barbi.
