COMMEMORATING the 35th Anniversary of North
Quarter Farm and paying just tribute to owner, Ed
Tuccio for a career which traversed more than three
decades
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
support the leaders of commerce and industry whose accomplishments
contribute to economic health and prosperity of the communities of New
York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Ed Tuccio and North Quarter Farm on their 35th Anniversary;
and
WHEREAS, In 1985, Ed Tuccio, owner and operator of North Quarter
Farm in Riverhead, New York, first encountered bison during a trip
through Colorado and instantly fell in love; he ultimately purchased two
pregnant bison from Custer State Park located in the Black Hills of
South Dakota; and
WHEREAS, Since his initial purchase, North Quarter Farm now boasts
over 300 bison on 250 acres of farmland; and
WHEREAS, In past decades, over 60 million bison once roamed the
plains of North America; however, mass hunting of these animals almost
drove them to extinction; and
WHEREAS, Thanks to bison farmers like Ed Tuccio, there are now over
650 thousand bison roaming throughout the United States and right here
in New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Ed Tuccio and North
Quarter Farm; and
WHEREAS, The proud heritage of the North Quarter Farm continues to
change and expand with the times, and the farm is poised for success for
many years to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 35th Anniversary of North Quarter Farm and pay just
tribute to owner, Ed Tuccio for a career which traversed more than three
decades; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ed Tuccio, North Quarter Farm, Riverhead, New York.
