HONORING James P. Boyer upon the occasion of his
induction into the Catholic School Hall of Fame by
the Catholic Schools Association of Rome

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals within the State of New York who give of
their time and energies in support of spiritual endeavors which aim to
benefit the community at large; and

WHEREAS, James P. Boyer has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
is designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor James P.
Boyer upon the occasion of his induction into the Catholic School Hall
of Fame by the Catholic Schools Association of Rome, to be presented
during the 3rd Annual Induction Ceremony on Saturday, February 8, 2020,
at Teugega Country Club, Rome, New York; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion recognizes persons influential to
local Catholic schools and the positive influence these individuals have
had on their communities; James P. Boyer is one such individual; and

WHEREAS, A 1984 graduate of Rome Catholic High School, James P.
Boyer participated in both football and baseball; some of the highlights
of his sporting career were competing in the State Finals in baseball in
1983, and beating Holland Patent that same year in football; and

WHEREAS, Under the skillful leadership of his coaches and teachers,
James P. Boyer and his fellow students and athletes learned to behave
like gentlemen, work hard, win with class, and fail with dignity; these
lessons would last a lifetime; and

WHEREAS, James P. Boyer has proudly served his community as an
active member of the Rome Police Department; he has been a police
officer for nearly 30 years; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his late father William and his mother
Bridget Boyer, with him throughout have been his wife Cathleen M.
(Malone) Boyer, and their two daughters, Kelly and Katelyn; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor James P. Boyer upon the occasion of his induction into the 2020
local Catholic School Hall of Fame announced by the Catholic Schools
Association of Rome; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to James P. Boyer.
