HONORING the first responders from the State of
New York, who have battled on the front lines, for
their heroism during the unprecedented time of
crisis created by the Coronavirus Disease 2019

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
give outstanding service to the people of the State of New York and
whose extraordinary achievements save the lives of their fellow citizens
should be recognized because their efforts so profoundly strengthen our
shared commitment to family and community life; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to acknowledge the efforts
of those real-life superheroes serving as first responders whose
dedication and accomplishments have been instrumental in uncertain
times; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the first
responders from the State of New York, who have battled on the front
lines, for their heroism during the unprecedented time of crisis created
by the Coronavirus Disease 2019; and

WHEREAS, The Coronavirus Disease 2019, a global pandemic, has
created an unprecedented health crisis; the lives of thousands of
people, those who became ill and those who have died, have been
significantly impacted by the committed care and efforts of New York
State's dedicated first responders; and

WHEREAS, This health crisis has caused significant economic risks
and harm to the well-being of not only the citizens in New York State
but also to many businesses and organizations; and

WHEREAS, New York coronavirus cases make up almost half of the
nation-wide total, and the State is racing to address the uncertainty
caused by this crisis while ensuring that people have access to critical
care and the essential items they need thanks to the sacrifices of our
first responders; and

WHEREAS, First responders answer the call of duty in any environment
where people are in need of compassionate care; and

WHEREAS, In one display of appreciation, which garnered national
attention, New Yorkers who were asked to remain indoors leaned out their
windows and flooded their balconies to applaud first responders who are
helping to fight the City's coronavirus outbreak; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body cannot express sufficient gratitude
to those devoted first responders who recognize that the preservation of
life is a sacred responsibility and who make that responsibility their
own by providing valuable services to the communities of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the first responders from the State of New York, who have battled

on the front lines, for their heroism during the unprecedented time of
crisis created by the Coronavirus Disease 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to first responders from the State of New York.
