LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 30th
Anniversary of the Long Term Care Community
Coalition

WHEREAS, Senior citizens planted the seeds that made our communities
grow and prosper; their past contributions and future participation are
a vital part of, and valuable asset to, the fabric of community life;
and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those organizations which provide supportive services for
elderly and disabled people, and serve to enhance the quality of life
for our loved ones; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Long Term Care Community
Coalition; and

WHEREAS, The Long Term Care Community Coalition (LTCCC) is a
nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to improving quality of
care, quality of life, and dignity for elderly and disabled people in
nursing homes, assisted living, and other residential settings; and

WHEREAS, LTCCC focuses on systemic advocacy, researching national
and state policies, laws, and regulations in order to identify relevant
issues and develop meaningful recommendations to improve quality,
efficiency, and accountability; in addition to providing a foundation
for advocacy, LTCCC uses this research to educate policymakers,
consumers, and the general public; and

WHEREAS, This New York State-based coalition of consumer, community,
and professional organizations brings together different stakeholders to
identify and address the systemic issues which affect quality of care
and dignity in long-term care; and

WHEREAS, Over the years, the Long Term Care Community Coalition has
worked closely with legislators to establish safety standards for New
York seniors in assisted living, called attention to the challenges
seniors and families face in nursing homes, and, most recently,
strengthened abuse and neglect reporting requirements; and

WHEREAS, LTCCC staff regularly provides trainings and technical
assistance to residents, families, and those who work with them in New
York and beyond, and offers a host of free resources to the public on a
range of issues, from dementia care, to preventing abuse and neglect, to
improving resident dignity and quality of life; and

WHEREAS, For 30 years, the Long Term Care Community Coalition has
been dedicated to helping the elderly and disabled residents of the
State of New York; this organization has lessened its concern for the
dignity of every person it serves, or compromised its standard of
excellence for senior and disabled persons care; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Long Term Care Community
Coalition; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
