HONORING Kevin Dahill upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Distinguished
Service Award by the Healthcare Association of New
York State

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Kevin Dahill
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Distinguished
Service Award by the Healthcare Association of New York State which was
celebrated at an event on Friday, December 18, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Each year since 1979, the Healthcare Association of New
York State (HANYS) has presented the Distinguished Service Award to
individuals who demonstrate superlative commitment and service to New
York State's healthcare community; Kevin Dahill is truly deserving of
this prestigious accolade; and

WHEREAS, For five decades, Kevin Dahill has diligently worked to
improve healthcare in the State of New York; during this time, he has
established a reputation for his knowledge, credibility and capacity to
reconcile conflict and achieve consensus on complex health policy
issues; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Dahill began his illustrious career in healthcare as
a hospital administrator, first at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center
in New York City, then New York United Hospital Medical Center in Port
Chester, New York; and

WHEREAS, Currently, Kevin Dahill holds the titles of President and
CEO of the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council and the Northern Metropolitan
Hospital Association, both divisions of the Suburban Hospital Alliance
of New York State (SHANYS); he will officially retire from these roles
at the end of the year; and

WHEREAS, Through his vision, vast experience and knowledge, Kevin
Dahill has been instrumental in transforming the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital
Council into the successful organization it is today; shortly after he
became the CEO in 2002, he developed new initiatives for the region,
forged relationships with area businesses and developed a name for
himself as a powerful and valued voice with elected officials; and

WHEREAS, In 2011, Kevin Dahill achieved his greatest accomplishment
when he created SHANYS by forging a partnership with the Nassau-Suffolk
Hospital Council and Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association; and

WHEREAS, During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kevin Dahill proved to once
again be a valuable and conscientious leader, visiting the hospitals he
served and meeting with CEOs to find out what issues they faced; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Dahill has been a key figure in the most important
healthcare policy issues over the past 50 years, conducting himself with
professionalism and civility, and delivering results that have made a
positive difference in the lives of all New Yorkers; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kevin Dahill for his designation as recipient of the 2020
Distinguished Service Award by the Healthcare Association of New York
State, and to congratulate him upon the occasion of his much-deserved
retirement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kevin Dahill.
