CONGRATULATING James F. Corbett upon the occasion
of his retirement after 36 years of distinguished
service as Superintendent of the Village of Potsdam
Department of Public Works
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize
and honor those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who
have devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of
their community and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate James F. Corbett upon the occasion of his retirement after
36 years of distinguished service as Superintendent of the Village of
Potsdam Department of Public Works; he will officially retire from this
esteemed position on January 14, 2022; and
WHEREAS, The result of many individual efforts, the excellence and
the success of the Village of Potsdam Department of Public Works is due
in large part to the efforts of James F. Corbett; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, James F. Corbett served the Village
of Potsdam Department of Public Works (DPW) with intelligence and caring
dedication, continuously striving to effectively fulfill the duties of
his position; and
WHEREAS, James F. Corbett began his illustrious 36-year career
working as building maintenance to the DPW; in addition, he worked in
numerous positions throughout the fire, waste water and water units; and
WHEREAS, Beyond being a great employee, James F. Corbett has been a
celebrated member of the community, serving on the planning board and as
a volunteer fireman; and
WHEREAS, Sincerely loved and greatly respected by all those with
whom he worked, James F. Corbett will be remembered for his honesty,
integrity, keen sense of duty and ability to show a unique grasp of
human problems in his official acts; and
WHEREAS, In completing his service as Superintendent, James F.
Corbett leaves behind a legacy to the Village of Potsdam Department of
Public Works and to the residents of the communities it serves; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate James F. Corbett, and to wish him continued success in all
his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to James F. Corbett.
