HONORING Jada Robinson upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2021 Junior
Achievement New York Student of the Year Award
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
achieved outstanding educational success and serve as role models for
their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Jada Robinson upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2021 Junior Achievement New York Student of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, Each year, Junior Achievement selects the Student of the
Year from a pool of intelligent and talented candidates from New York
City, Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley; Jada Robinson stood out
in the selection process due to her vast accomplishments, leadership
skills, and the community service spirit she exemplifies in everything
she does; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement is proud to have a strong partnership
with Mount Vernon High School in dedication to empowering young people
to own their future economic success; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement's partnership with Mount Vernon has not
only brought programs in financial literacy, workforce preparation, and
entrepreneurship, it has also given students to develop the skills and
confidence necessary for their successful futures; and
WHEREAS, Jada Robinson began her involvement with Junior Achievement
through the High School Heroes program during her Sophomore year; High
School Heroes is a program where students become "heroes" in the
classroom, teaching Junior Achievement programs to elementary students
in their district; and
WHEREAS, This extraordinary young lady excelled as a High School
Hero in giving back to her community, and helped solidify the family
bond within Mount Vernon schools; and
WHEREAS, Typically a program designated to high school juniors and
seniors, Jada Robinson was chosen for early entrance because of her
admirable dedication to helping younger students; since this time, she
has steadfastly and consistently illustrated responsibility within the
program; and
WHEREAS, Jada Robinson is an exemplary role model for the students
of Mount Vernon and illustrates that individuals in small communities
can make massive contributions and impacts to encourage growth and
development in the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, she demonstrates exceptional leadership
qualities and utilizes them not only through her Junior Achievement
programs and in communications with her teammates on the Mount Vernon
Girls Basketball team, but also to her broader peers in high school; and
WHEREAS, Jada Robinson is planning to continue her athletic career
after high school and use what she has learned through Junior
Achievement programming to excel in her continued education; she is
hoping to pursue a career in sports therapy, combining her passion for
sports and helping others; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, Jada
Robinson now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and
appreciating the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers,
coaches and parents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jada Robinson upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2021 Junior Achievement New York Student of the Year Award, and
extend to her its best wishes for a future of purposeful success and
well-being, fully confident of her response to a promising future and
appreciative of the model she represents for all aspiring young people
of the Empire State; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jada Robinson.
