CONGRATULATING Mark Peavey upon the occasion of
his retirement after 36 years as Head Coach of the
Vernon-Verona-Sherill Wrestling Team

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the distinguished educators and athletic coaches who serve the youth of
this great Empire State and who have distinguished themselves and their
schools through outstanding commitment and exemplary athletic
achievements; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Mark Peavey upon the occasion of his retirement after 36
years as Head Coach of the Vernon-Verona-Sherill Wrestling Team; and

WHEREAS, In front of a large crowd of supporters and both current
and former wrestlers, Mark Peavey celebrated his long and distinguished
coaching career with the Red Devils during his last dual meet against
Adirondack High School on Thursday, January 27, 2022; and

WHEREAS, In his much-deserved retirement, Mark Peavey plans on
staying active within the wrestling community and the school's FFA
program, and spending more time with his beloved three grandchildren;
and

WHEREAS, Coach Mark Peavey will fondly be remembered by many for not
only his experience and ability to teach the proper techniques and
maneuvers for every situation, but also for teaching his athletes
invaluable lessons both on and off the mat; and

WHEREAS, Known as an inspiring and motivating leader, Mark Peavey's
positive demeanor, selfless commitment and caring concern have
contributed to his unparalleled success as a coach and mentor, earning
him the just respect and admiration of the school, his peers and the
athletes he has so ably coached; and

WHEREAS, Coach Mark Peavey will always be remembered for his role in
making the Vernon-Verona-Sherill Red Devils a proud wrestling community;
he was a friend to everyone and always stayed true to his beliefs,
making his athletes his number one priority; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to now record its
recognition and appreciation in honoring an outstanding educational
leader whose dedication and achievements have been instrumental in
developing character and sportsmanship in youth, exemplifying the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Mark Peavey upon the occasion of his retirement after 36
years as Head Coach of the Vernon-Verona-Sherill Wrestling Team, and to
wish him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it
further


RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mark Peavey.
