HONORING Michael Carpenter upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2022
Businessperson of the Year Award by the North
Country Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the leaders of commerce and industry whose accomplishments
contribute to the economic health and prosperity of the communities of
the State of New York, and whose purposeful endeavors as involved
members of the community serve to enhance the quality of life therein;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Michael Carpenter upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2022 Businessperson of the Year Award by the North Country Chamber
of Commerce, which was celebrated at its 110th Annual Awards Dinner on
Friday, March 4, 2022, at the West Side Ballroom in Plattsburgh, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Michael Carpenter is receiving this prestigious award for
his steadfast and unremitting commitment to his Plattsburgh, New York,
and North Country communities; and

WHEREAS, In the late 1990s, Michael Carpenter began his long and
distinguished career with the family business founded by his father,
Herb and stepmother, Mary, The Northeast Group, a Third-Party Logistics
Fulfillment Warehouse servicing an international customer base from its
headquarters in Plattsburgh; and

WHEREAS, After serving as Vice President for several years, Michael
Carpenter took over the helm as President approximately 15 years ago;
and

WHEREAS, Inspired by his own life experience, Michael Carpenter
enlisted Herb, Mary, Betsy Vincencio and A.J. Rubado to establish MHAB
Life Skills Campus which provides transitional housing for individuals
in recovery; and

WHEREAS, In both organizations, Michael Carpenter truly treats his
staff as family, and together, they accomplish numerous goals and strive
to make a positive difference to each and every person who walks through
their doors; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefits of others which Michael Carpenter has
displayed throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mike Carpenter upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2022 Businessperson of the Year Award by the North Country
Chamber of Commerce; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mike Carpenter.
