HONORING the Lake Champlain - Lake George Regional
Planning Board upon the occasion of its designation
as recipient of the 2022 Economic Development
Partner of the Year Award by the North Country
Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
the Lake Champlain - Lake George Regional Planning Board upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2022 Economic
Development Partner of the Year Award by the North Country Chamber of
Commerce, which was celebrated at its 110th Annual Awards Dinner on
Friday, March 4, 2022, at the West Side Ballroom in Plattsburgh, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Over the course of 2021, the Lake Champlain - Lake George
Regional Planning Board (LCLGRPB), which represents five counties,
Essex, Clinton, Hamilton, Warren and Washington, helped 209 businesses
obtain over $3 million in loans, as well as using $5.1 million in grant
funding to help communities throughout the COVID-19 crisis; and

WHEREAS, In 2020, LCLGRPB was awarded a $2,940,000 Revolving Loan
Fund CARES Act grant from the Economic Development Administration to
assist small businesses which were negatively affected by the pandemic
or are looking for a way to increase their business resiliency; and

WHEREAS, Looking ahead to the future, LCLGRPB has plans to remain
true to its mission of assisting its community in their economic
development and growth in the way they want it to be done by expanding
broadband in the area and reinvesting in community main streets; and

WHEREAS, The remarkable success of the LCLGRPB is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its Executive Director Beth Gilles, Board
of Directors, and staff, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the institution and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Lake Champlain - Lake George Regional Planning Board upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2022 Economic

Development Partner of the Year Award by the North Country Chamber of
Commerce; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Beth Gilles, Executive Director, the Lake Champlain -
Lake George Regional Planning Board.
