COMMEMORATING the 65th Anniversary of R-tronics of
Rome, New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses that contribute
substantially to the economic vitality of their communities, thereby
enhancing economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 65th Anniversary of R-tronics of Rome, New York; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission which was established more
than six decades ago, R-tronics is committed to meeting or exceeding its
customers' expectations through high quality products made to
specifications, timely delivery and continuously improving its quality
management system; and
WHEREAS, Located on Erie Boulevard East in Rome, New York, R-tronics
was established as Rome Electronics when Hank Kroeger and Gene Romano
purchased the business, along with Pacemaker Steel; and
WHEREAS, Rome Electronics began as a Univac supplier; by 1958, Gene
Romano and Hank Kroeger divided the two businesses as they both required
significant time and effort, with Hank remaining in the
electronics/tube/kit business in Rome; and
WHEREAS, In the early 1960s, Salina Electronics in Syracuse, New
York was purchased as its supply house before eventually merging with
R-tronics in 2013; and
WHEREAS, Through the 1980s, electronics started to change, as fewer
tubes were needed and offshore production began; however, the Salina
location made it through, which was the company's key to surviving these
vast changes; and
WHEREAS, In response to these changes, Rome Electronics quickly
adapted to U.S. specifications which require certain items to be made
within the United States, and R-tronics was established in 1991 with
three Tyco "K-Presses" and one customer; and
WHEREAS, Today, R-tronics employs more than 20 employees and works
with a list of 20 steady and loyal customers; the business has twice
doubled its manufacturing space and added state-of-the-art machines and
equipment; and
WHEREAS, R-tronics' Company Quality Policy, established in 2002, has
been driving its success for two decades; the company has grown to
produce custom cables, test cables and production run cables, as well as
electro mechanical assemblies; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this exceptional business has recently
prepared railroad car replacement repair cables for both Metro North and
Long Island Rail Road; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 65-year history, R-tronics has
demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities which
it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of R-tronics is in direct correlation to the
efforts of its devoted President, Rocco Garro, and its dedicated staff,
whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the business and
the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business, its contributions to the local
and state economies, and its vibrant role in improving the quality of
life in its community, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy
the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 65th Anniversary of R-tronics; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Rocco Garro, President, R-tronics, Rome, New York.
