COMMEMORATING the 20th Anniversary of Jawonio of
Yonkers, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize
organizations which serve the interests of the people of this Empire
State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Jawonio of Yonkers, New York; and

WHEREAS, For 20 years, Jawonio has served the residents of the
Hudson Valley of the State of New York by providing lifespan services
for individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health
challenges, and chronic medical conditions; and

WHEREAS, Jawonio is an indigenous word which means independence; the
organization helps children and adults reach their fullest personal
potential and supports them to be as independent as possible, beginning
at a very early age; and

WHEREAS, The core values belonging to Jawonio include honesty and
integrity, compassion and respect, positive attitudes, and inclusion;
this vital organization is dedicated to preserving and upholding the
dignity and value of all people, and do so by communicating in an open
and ethical manner, respecting diversity, encouraging collaboration, and
creating a positive work environment; and

WHEREAS, Jawonio has a plethora of programs and opportunities
available to the individuals they serve, including education services,
habilitation services, resource centers, personalized recovery-oriented
services, vocational training and job placement, and more; and

WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to recognize and pay tribute to Jawonio for their commendable
commitment to their community; effectively carrying out its important
mission, Jawonio has demonstrated the value of supporting individuals
with disabilities, behavioral health challenges, and chronic medical
needs for two decades; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Jawonio of Yonkers; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jawonio of Yonkers, New York.
