HONORING Charles J. Diamond upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Third Age
Achievement Award by Lifepath on April 29, 2022
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Charles J.
Diamond upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Third
Age Achievement Award by Lifepath, to be celebrated at its 26th Annual
Awards Ceremony on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Wolferts Roost Country
Club, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Lifepath is dedicated to keeping older neighbors and
friends healthy and safe by providing effective programs and support to
help them stay connected to their communities; and
WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the
contributions area residents and professionals have made in their
communities during the Third Age of their lives (after turning 60
years-old); Charles J. Diamond is truly deserving of this prestigious
award; and
WHEREAS, A true civic servant, Charles J. Diamond began his long and
distinguished career as the Director at the Cable Telecommunications
Association of New York where he was instrumental in implementing the
Association's strategic plan involving tax issues, and other matters
important to an industry that represents an important segment of New
York's economy; and
WHEREAS, From 1989-2009, Charles J. Diamond held the position of
District Chief of Staff for United States Representative Michael R.
McNulty; throughout his tenure, he represented the interest of many
public and private sector stakeholders before a variety of federal
agencies, utilizing his extensive knowledge of the bureaucracy to make
it serve the day-to-day interests of the citizens of the congressional
district; and
WHEREAS, During this time, Charles J. Diamond served on the
Watervliet City Council for 15 years, until he was appointed by Governor
David A. Patterson to the New York State Racing and Wagering Board in
2010; in this capacity, he was responsible for ensuring New York State's
legalized pari-mutuel operations, charitable gaming activities and Class
III Native American gaming facilities operated with integrity and in
full compliance with New York's statutes and Board rules; and
WHEREAS, Today, Charles J. Diamond is the Senior Advisor at
Statewide Public Affairs, a full-service government relations,
communications and issue management firm providing consulting services
throughout New York State; and
WHEREAS, Devoted to making his community a better place to live,
work and play, Charles J. Diamond founded Kids Count!, now Arsenal City
Kids, in 2000, and is a member of numerous local boards of directors and
civic organizations; and
WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unremitting commitment to his
community, Charles J. Diamond has been the recipient of numerous awards
and accolades; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, the former Giovina
Waldo, their two children, Robert J. (Krystina) and Bridget, and his
little buddy, his grandson, Anthony P., all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Charles J. Diamond upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the 2022 Third Age Achievement Award by Lifepath; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Charles J. Diamond.
