COMMEMORATING the 60th Anniversary of Miller's
Meat Market
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Miller's Meat Market; and
WHEREAS, Nestled in the center of beautiful Lewis County in the
foothills of the Adirondack Mountains you will find the hidden treasure
that is Miller's Meat Market; and
WHEREAS, Miller's General Store began in 1962 when Carl and Norma
Miller bought a small country store to escape the hustle and bustle of
Syracuse, New York; when they first looked at the store it was on Easter
Sunday; they really liked it so they made the swift decision to buy it
the very next day which was April 23, 1962, their son Daniel Miller's
8th Birthday; and
WHEREAS, In 1978, Carl and Norma sold the business to their son Dan
and his wife Charlene who continue to run the store and custom meat shop
along with several of their children; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, Miller's Meat Market
continues to provide friendly and personalized service to each customer
who walks through the door, truly striving to be on a first name basis
with each of its patrons, both old and new; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional family-owned business has been custom
cutting meat for local farmers since 1978; furthermore, in 2000, the
retail store was renovated and in 2015, an all-new custom plant was
built to serve the needs of its community more efficiently; and
WHEREAS, Today, Miller's Meat Market offers a small retail store
full of homemade baked goods, including donuts, cake, cookies and bread,
as well as a custom meat shop with beef, pork, chicken and deer which
can be seasoned and cut to each customer's liking; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Miller's Meat
Market; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident that it will continue to
enjoy the sparkling success it has experienced thus far; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Miller's Meat Market; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Miller's Meat Market, Lowville, New York.
