CONGRATULATING Justin Chin upon the occasion of
receiving the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout, the
most prestigious of Scouting honors, on May 22, 2022

WHEREAS, Justin Chin, through his diligence and rigorous efforts,
has achieved Scouting's highest and most prestigious rank, Eagle Scout;
the Eagle Court of Honor ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022,
at The Albertson Hook & Ladder, Engine & Hose, Company No. 1, Albertson,
New York; and

WHEREAS, Justin Chin is a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 201,
of Herricks, New York; and

WHEREAS, Justin Chin started his scouting journey in 2009 as a Tiger
Scout in Pack 202 (Denton Ave School) in 2009, and crossed over to Boy
Scout Troop 201 in 2014; along his path to Eagle he earned 26 merit
badges; as a scout, he attended the High Adventure Trips at Florida Sea
Base during the Winter of 2018 and Philmont Scout Ranch during the
Summer of 2019; at Philmont, Justin was chosen to be the crew leader;
and

WHEREAS, Justin Chin has held several leadership positions in Troop
201 including: Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader and Chaplain Aide;
and

WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and

WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and

WHEREAS, Boy Scouts of America and its members are dedicated to the
development of character and leadership in the youth of this Nation; the
Boy Scouts of America also remind you about the importance of
conservation and our environment; and

WHEREAS, The highest achievement of leadership in Scouting, earned
by approximately five percent of all Boy Scouts, is the distinguished
rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, This outstanding young man has been involved in Scouting
for many years, has lived up to Scouting's ideals and has attained all
of the necessary achievements, including completion of a community
service project, which was successfully planned, developed and executed;
and

WHEREAS, For his Eagle Scout project, Justin Chin combined his
passions of sports medicine and athletics; he cleaned, refurbished and
re-organized the on-field trainer room at Herricks High School which is
located on the northwest side of the Herricks High School track and new
turf field; he converted a concession stand to become a room for
trainers, coaches, and even referees to use during athletic events; and


WHEREAS, Justin Chin led his team of volunteers through a thorough
cleaning of the entire room, then added new flooring to cover the old
cement floor; next, he painted the interior walls with a new color to
cover existing cracks before assembling new shelving units; he arranged
the space with existing and new furniture, which included 2 new medical
tables, installed a white board and put together a brochure case to hold
any hand-outs that the trainer can use; and

WHEREAS, On the exterior of the building, Justin Chin power washed
the brick and added new shrubs and flowers to enhance the curb appeal;
to fund his project, he held a clothing drive that raised almost $500
and sought donations from various sources; and

WHEREAS, Justin Chin's dedication to the safety and well-being of
the citizens of Herricks is represented through his project and
demonstrates his devotion to both community and commitment to others;
and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
Eagle Scout now stands honorably, with just pride in his accomplishments
and in excited anticipation of future challenges; and

WHEREAS, Justin Chin's perseverance in rising through the ranks to
Eagle Scout is a strong indication of his ability to master difficult
tasks; his accomplishment will enable him to emerge as a leader, fully
equipped to meet the challenges of today's complex society; and

WHEREAS, This new Eagle Scout is a credit to his family, his school,
his community, his State and his Nation, and no doubt his future will be
filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to
congratulate and honor Justin Chin on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Justin Chin.
