COMMENDING Curt Trinko upon the occasion of his
designation as Citizen of the Year by the Community
Chest of Port Washington
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Curt Trinko upon the occasion of his designation as Citizen of
the Year by the Community Chest of Port Washington, to be celebrated on
Friday, June 3, 2022, at North Hempstead Beach Park, Port Washington,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Each year since its inception, the Community Chest of Port
Washington selects an extraordinary resident or organization as its
Citizen of the Year; Curt Trinko is being recognized with this
auspicious award for his lifetime of outstanding volunteer service to
the Port Washington community; and
WHEREAS, Growing up in northern Wisconsin, Curt Trinko graduated
from the University of Wisconsin-Madison before earning his law degree
from New York University; he has been actively practicing law for 45
years and gained notoriety from an anti-trust action which reached the
United States Supreme Court; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Port Washington since 1978, Curt Trinko has
been involved with Residents Forward, an organization dedicated to
advancing the critical projects which make the Port Washington peninsula
beautiful, sustainable, and resilient, for more than four decades; and
WHEREAS, Serving as Residents Forward's Chairman for more than 20
years, Curt Trinko is a kind and compassionate leader who has given
tirelessly of his time and energies fighting for the health, beauty and
sustainability of his beloved community; and
WHEREAS, In addition to providing this vital organization with pro
bono legal work for decades, Curt Trinko has participated in more than
100 neighborhood projects and beautification projects, fought a mass
burn incinerator, worked to safely cap its landfill which he got
declared a superfund site; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he was instrumental in acquiring grants,
creating countless environmental education programs, and advocating on
behalf of the Town's land, water and natural resources; and
WHEREAS, A man of indomitable faith and dedication, Curt Trinko is
also active with Our Lady of Fatima Church where he is a member of the
Buildings and Ground Committee, Gardening Committee and the Outreach
Commission; he is also involved in the Religious Education program,
serving as a Faith Partner to Confirmation students; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Curt Trinko has also served as a parent volunteer with the
Port Washington Parent Resource Center, a board member with the New
Salem Civic Association and as a Port Washington Landfill Citizen's
Advisory Committee member; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Curt Trinko has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Curt Trinko upon the occasion of his designation as Citizen of
the Year by the Community Chest of Port Washington; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Curt Trinko.
