COMMEMORATING the 70th Anniversary of the East
Meadow Kiwanis Club
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those fraternal organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the East Meadow Kiwanis Club; and
WHEREAS, Coined from an American Indian expression "Nunc Keewanis,"
Kiwanis means "we trade" or "we share our talents"; and
WHEREAS, Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to
changing the world, one child and one community at a time; they help
shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, mentor the disadvantaged, and
care for the sick; and
WHEREAS, By working together, the members of Kiwanis strive to
develop youth as leaders, build playgrounds, and raise funds for
pediatric research, among many other initiatives; and
WHEREAS, The East Meadow Kiwanis Club was established by 54 members
in 1952; over the years, the Club has remained true to its mission by
completing numerous community service projects such as sponsoring youth
groups, sending children to sleep away camp, raising money to benefit
children and children's support groups, and providing scholarships; and
WHEREAS, The success of the East Meadow Kiwanis Club is in direct
correlation to the efforts of President Jennifer Reinhardt and its
dedicated members, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the organization and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the East Meadow Kiwanis
Club; and
WHEREAS, In light of its commitment, dedication and successful
efforts, it is the custom of this Legislative Body to extend its highest
commendation to the East Meadow Kiwanis Club; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the East Meadow Kiwanis Club; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jennifer Reinhardt, President, East Meadow Kiwanis Club.
