HONORING Trooper Andre S. Wiley upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of the
Superintendent's Commendation Award by the New York
State Police

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers who would devote themselves to public
service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great
Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Trooper Andre S. Wiley upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Superintendent's Commendation Award by the New York State Police
to be celebrated at the 46th Annual Awards Day Ceremony on Wednesday,
May 11, 2022, at the State Police Academy, Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, Trooper Andre S. Wiley
responded to a call of a residential fire at 7718 Perry Road in
Baldwinsville, New York; upon arrival, he observed black smoke coming
from the house, and was informed from a neighbor that there was still
someone inside; and

WHEREAS, Without hesitation or regard for his own safety, Trooper
Andre S. Wiley entered the smoke-filled residence and located the
81-year-old homeowner lying unresponsive on the floor; he picked the
woman up and carried her outside to safety where she regained
consciousness; due to Trooper Wiley's bravery, the elderly woman made a
complete recovery; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Liverpool, New York, Trooper Andre S. Wiley
joined the New York State Police on August 22, 2007; today, he is
stationed with Troop D at Lysander Police Station; and

WHEREAS, Through his heroic actions, Trooper Andre S. Wiley
demonstrated his character and compassion for the welfare of others,
personifying the collective concern of public servants across the
community of the State of New York who respond when others are in need
of help; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Trooper Andre S. Wiley upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Superintendent's Commendation Award by the New York
State Police; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Trooper Andre S. Wiley.
