CONGRATULATING Dawn Harrington upon the occasion
of her retirement after many years of distinguished
service to the State of New York

WHEREAS, The best public servants are those who take their roles and
responsibilities seriously and look to enhance the quality of
government; and

WHEREAS, Dawn Harrington has dedicated her professional life to
improving the atmosphere of workers within the New York State Senate;
and

WHEREAS, Whether it was in her role as a Senior Office Support
Representative or in her capacities in the Personnel Office, this
longtime New York State Senate employee has led with integrity, optimism
and sincerity and was always a friendly, familiar face in the halls of
the Capitol; and

WHEREAS, While she is known for her deep human resource knowledge
and organization, Dawn Harrington is somehow even more well-versed in
dance as she was a former dance instructor at Sharon's Bodies in Motion
in Troy, New York; and

WHEREAS, In 1987, Dawn Harrington began her illustrious career with
New York State Senator Dean Skelos as a temporary employee; and

WHEREAS, In 1988, she returned to the Senate as a full-time employee
of New York State Senator Charlie Cook; and

WHEREAS, Over the years, Dawn Harrington held various positions and
worked her way through the ranks of the New York State Senate; in 1991,
she became Office Support Representative for the Senate Office
Automation Project (SOAP) before accepting the position of Recruitment
and Training Coordinator for the New York State Senate Personnel Office
in 2000, and eventually ascending to Director of Personnel in that
office; and

WHEREAS, In 2019, Dawn Harrington became Director of Minority
Administration under Minority Leader John Flanagan, the position from
which she is retiring now under Minority Leader Robert Ortt; and

WHEREAS, Time and again, Dawn Harrington has shown herself to be
invested in more than just the professional growth of staff and
consistently goes out of her way to guarantee those around her have
positive personal lives; and

WHEREAS, Dawn Harrington has dedicated her professional career to
helping others without seeking personal recognition and was always
dependable; and

WHEREAS, Outside of the Senate, Dawn Harrington is a dedicated wife
to her husband, Jeff, and an amazing mother to her two daughters, Meghan
and Amanda; and


WHEREAS, In her spare time, she stays active by running or playing
golf, and enjoys spending quality time with her family; and

WHEREAS, After more than 30 years of service, Dawn Harrington is
retiring from a distinguished career of state service, leaving all those
who have worked with her better employees and people due to having known
and collaborated with her; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those who have reached such an important milestone in their
personal and professional lives; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dawn Harrington upon the occasion of her retirement after
many years of distinguished service to the State of New York, and to
wish her well in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dawn Harrington.
