Senate Resolution No. 2624

CONGRATULATING Shiv A. Khanna upon the occasion of
receiving the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout, the
most prestigious of Scouting honors, on June 4, 2022

WHEREAS, Through his diligence and rigorous efforts, Shiv A. Khanna
has achieved Scouting's highest and most prestigious rank, Eagle Scout;
the Eagle Court of Honor ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 4,
2022, at Holy Family Church, New Rochelle, New York; and

WHEREAS, Shiv A. Khanna is a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop
15, New Rochelle, New York; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of New Rochelle High School, Shiv A. Khanna was
a member of numerous programs, such as, New Rochelle High School's track
and field team, National Honor Society and Ignite program; and

WHEREAS, At the age of six, Shiv A. Khanna began his scouting
adventure as a Cub Scout in New Rochelle Pack 15; he joined Scouting for
the opportunity to be involved in outdoor activities; some of his
fondest memories as a Cub Scout are of the Pinewood Derby, it being a
great introduction to building something and testing it out in a fun and
exciting competition; and

WHEREAS, Upon earning the Arrow of Light in 2013, Shiv proudly
crossed over to the Boy Scouts and joined New Rochelle Troop 15; as a
Boy Scout, he participated in Summer Camp in the Adirondacks, in the
woods he learned new skills; at camp, the swimming, canoeing, and other
activities, were anticipated with trepidation, but there was great
satisfaction in facing these fears and ultimately enjoying these new
experiences; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Shiv A. Khanna has given tirelessly of his time and energies
to provide service to others, establishing a high standard of excellence
and purposefulness of life rarely achieved in youthful years; and

WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination, and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and

WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and

WHEREAS, The highest achievement of leadership in Scouting, earned
by approximately five percent of all Boy Scouts, is the distinguished
rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, This outstanding young man has been involved in Scouting
for many years, has lived up to Scouting's ideals and has attained all
of the necessary achievements, including completion of a community
service project, which was successfully planned, developed and executed;
and

WHEREAS, For his project, Shiv A. Khanna restored and beautified a
trail spur of the Westchester County six-mile Colonial Greenway; mold
and mildew was removed off the catwalks and improvements were made by
removing trees and debris, as well as widening the trail; in addition to
the satisfaction of doing this, Shiv proudly received a commendation
from the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation for the City of New
Rochelle; and

WHEREAS, His dedication to the safety and well-being of the citizens
of Westchester County is represented through his project and
demonstrates his devotion to both community and commitment to others;
and

WHEREAS, As he goes forward in his academic career, Shiv A. Khanna
is studying mechanical engineering and economics at Tufts University,
Boston, he plans on continuing with the ideals and principles of the Boy
Scouts; and

WHEREAS, Shiv A. Khanna's perseverance in rising through the ranks
to Eagle Scout is a strong indication of his ability to master difficult
tasks; his accomplishment will enable him to emerge as a leader, fully
equipped to meet the challenges of today's complex society; and

WHEREAS, This new Eagle Scout is a credit to his family, his school,
his community, his State and his Nation, and no doubt his future will be
filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to
congratulate and honor Shiv A. Khanna on achieving the rank of Eagle
Scout; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Shiv A. Khanna.
