CONGRATULATING Naomi Klein upon the occasion of
her retirement after 25 years of distinguished
service to Westchester County
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
those individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Naomi Klein upon the occasion of her retirement after more
than 25 years of distinguished service to Westchester County; and
WHEREAS, Naomi Klein earned her bachelor's degree from Oberlin
College and a master's degree from the Cornell University College of
Architecture, Art and Planning; and
WHEREAS, Naomi Klein has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in
city planning and transportation; she was employed with MTA Metro-North
Railroad, the New York City Department of Transportation and the New
York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development before she
began working for Westchester County in 1997; and
WHEREAS, In 2010, Naomi Klein assumed the title of Director of
Transportation Planning for the Bee-Line Bus System, the position from
which she will officially retire on June 14, 2022; and
WHEREAS, In this capacity, Naomi Klein led initiatives related to
bus system and regional planning, as well as overall mobility issues
throughout Westchester County; and
WHEREAS, Devoted to her profession, Naomi Klein has been a member of
both the Women's Transportation Seminar and the Board of Directors for
the New York Public Transit Association and has taught classes on
transportation issues at the Scarsdale Adult School; and
WHEREAS, A resident of White Plains, New York, Naomi Klein is
looking forward to traveling and spending more time with her husband and
three children in her much-deserved retirement; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Naomi Klein upon the occasion of her retirement after 25
years of distinguished service to Westchester County, and to wish him
well in all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Naomi Klein.
