MOURNING the death of Wayne L. Beals, meritorious
veteran, distinguished citizen and devoted member of
his community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Wayne L. Beals of New City, New York died on Sunday,
December 19, 2021, at the age of 96; and
WHEREAS, Wayne Leslie Beals was born to Paul Leslie and Tacy Marie
Beals on December 27, 1924, in Curtis, Oklahoma; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from Mooreland High School, Wayne L. Beals
proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Air
Corps; upon the completion of his military service, he enrolled at the
University of Oklahoma at Norman courtesy of the GI Bill, where he
obtained his law degree; and
WHEREAS, Wayne L. Beals was then accepted into the Federal Bureau of
Investigation as a Special Agent; after a transfer to New York City, he
met the love of his life, the former Peggy Harrigan, who was working in
the same office as a clerk; and
WHEREAS, Wayne L. Beals and Peggy were married at St Benedict's HRC
Church in the Bronx on January 28, 1958, and lived in Flushing, Queens
for two years until they moved to New City, where the couple happily
raised their six children; and
WHEREAS, Active members of their community, Wayne L. Beals and his
wife were longtime parishioners of St. Augustine's Parish and sang in
the choir for many years; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Peggy, and his sister,
Hazel Louise Davis; Wayne L. Beals is survived by one sister, Alice L.
Durall; four daughters, Allison (Deacon) McCormack, Barbara (Bill)
Young, Stephanie Beals, and Stasia (Mike) Tully; two sons, Paul (Karen),
and Richard (Amy); eight grandchildren, Kelly, Daniel, Erin, Kristin,
Heather, Brenna, Kyle and Patrick, and one great-grandson Enso; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Wayne L. Beals leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Wayne L. Beals, meritorious veteran, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Wayne L. Beals.
