COMMEMORATING the 110th Anniversary of the Rome
Area Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
associations which serve to support small businesses in their community,
and in doing so, contribute to the economic vitality of their community
and the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 110th Anniversary of the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce:
the membership will be saluted during the Annual Business Meeting on
Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at the Delta Lake Inn, in Rome, New York; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1912, the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce has
serviced its community with great pride and commitment for many years;
and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce has
been a driving force in promoting job growth and strengthening the Rome
area economy; and

WHEREAS, For over a century, the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce has
served the business community, providing opportunities for members to
reach more customers while advocating for programs and legislation that
reduce their costs of doing business; and

WHEREAS, Throughout its spanning years, devoted men and women have
partnered with numerous businesses to provide for a more robust business
climate in Rome while establishing many sponsored events for fun-filled
community involvement; and

WHEREAS, Their dedication, hard work and membership support allow
the chamber to be in the forefront, providing energetic and effective
leadership to help other members of the chamber meet today's challenges
head on through advocacy, workforce development, cost-saving marketing
opportunities, and member benefits; and

WHEREAS, Major activities in 2022 include, hosting Business After
Hours, networking receptions that provide members with opportunities to
meet, mix, and mingle as they promote the products and services that
they offer; and

WHEREAS, Other major events that will be presented will include such
things as the Honor America Days Celebration, Bowling Bonanza, Golf
Tournament, and Shop Rome First Retail Promotion; these things encourage
business interaction and advocate on behalf of the business community on
issues of concern; and

WHEREAS, Upon working with members of the Mohawk Valley Alliance of
Chambers of Commerce and the Affiliate Partners to address topics such
as tourism, economic development, health care, business and community
promotion, education, workforce development and publishing; the Rome

Chamber's 52-page Member Directory & Community Guide showcases Rome as
an ideal community, a premier environment in which to live, work, raise
a family, and enjoy the many cultural, educational, recreational, and
health-related amenities; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce, and recognizes its
contributions to the local and State economies, fully confident that it
will continue its outstanding efforts in support of small businesses;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 110th Anniversary of the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce.
