CELEBRATING the life of John Pitrello,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is with feelings of deepest regret that this Legislative
Body records the passing of John Pitrello, an extraordinary gentleman of
indomitable faith and dedication whose purposeful life will long serve
as a standard to which others might aspire; and

WHEREAS, John "Tate" Pitrello passed away on Thursday, January 14,
2021, at the age of 72, in Buffalo, New York; and

WHEREAS, Born on March 30, 1948, in Rochester, New York, John
Pitrello was the beloved son of Carme and Dorothy (Porter) Pitrello; and

WHEREAS, A man of many gifts and talents, John Pitrello was full of
charisma and character; he loved, and was so proud to be part of his
community where he served and volunteered for numerous organizations,
including as a baseball coach at Ray Lee; and

WHEREAS, John Pitrello's illustrious career included serving eight
years as city Alderman, 21 years as a Police Board member, and most
recently, played a key role in bringing the Cornerstone CFCU Arena to
the city of Lockport; and

WHEREAS, With a true passion for many things, any encounter with
Tate would likely find you talking about the Buffalo Bills, the Los
Angeles Dodgers, the Lockport Ice Arena, or horse racing; and

WHEREAS, John Pitrello's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Predeceased by his siblings, Carme, Gloria, and Darlene;
and his son-in-law, Robert; John Pitrello is survived by his wife, Janet
(McCabe) Pitrello; two daughters, Michelle (late Robert) and Julie; a
step-son, Tracey; one grandson, Cameron; and his brother, Mike; as well
as an uncle, and many nephews and nieces; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, John Pitrello leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the life of John Pitrello, and to express its deepest
condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of John Pitrello.
