CONGRATULATING Paul Gasparini upon the occasion of
his retirement after 21 years of dedicated service
as Principal of Jamesville-DeWitt High School

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this
great State; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Paul
Gasparini upon the occasion of his retirement after 21 years of
dedicated service as Principal of Jamesville-DeWitt High School; and

WHEREAS, Paul Gasparini began his illustrious career as Principal of
Jamesville-DeWitt High School in 2001; and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Paul Gasparini,
Jamesville-DeWitt High School has consistently been ranked among the top
five percent of secondary schools nationally; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, as Principal, he increased student leaderships
programs, expanded the use of technology, and implemented strategies to
build school culture and instructional programs; and

WHEREAS, At the state level, Paul Gasparini served on key task
forces and advisory groups for the New York State Education Department
and the School Administrators Association of New York State; he was an
invaluable member of the SAANYS Government Relations Committee, provided
testimony to the Senate Education Committee and served on many NYSED
task forces regarding regent exams, teacher effectiveness and principal
effectiveness; and

WHEREAS, Nationally, Paul Gasparini served on the National
Assessment Governing Board as the Secondary Principal Representative for
four years, providing guidance on assessment development and data
reporting; and

WHEREAS, A truly distinguished educator, Paul Gasparini was named
High School Principal of the Year by the School Administrators
Association of New York State (SAANYS) in recognition of his excellence
and leadership at the local, state, and national levels; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his role as Principal, this extraordinary
man served as an Instructor in the Graduate Schools of Education at both
SUNY Cortland and LeMoyne College; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to the field of
education, Paul Gasparini also served as a Seminar Leader at Harvard
Graduate School Institute of Writing, Reading, and Civic Education; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure as an educator, which traversed
nearly four decades, Paul Gasparini served as a Social Studies Teacher
at East Syracuse Minoa Central High School, Battle Ground Academy, and

Skaneateles High School; he also served Tully Junior-Senior High School
and as Assistant Principal at Liverpool High School; and

WHEREAS, The DeWitt community is indeed fortunate and blessed to
have had such a dedicated and respected educational leader; his wisdom
and contributions reached into every classroom, truly making a
difference in the lives of those lucky enough to have worked with him;
and

WHEREAS, A significant contributor to education in New York State,
Paul Gasparini has continually demonstrated an impressive dedication, an
unparalleled devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm for the quality of
the educational programs and opportunities offered at the
Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District for the benefit of its faculty
and students, as well as for the entire community; and

WHEREAS, In completing his service as Principal, Paul Gasparini
leaves behind more than mere bricks and mortar; he leaves behind a
legacy to the students of Jamesville-DeWitt High School and to the
residents of the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Paul Gasparini upon the occasion of his retirement, and to wish
him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Paul Gasparini.
