HONORING Deborah Stendardi upon the occasion of
her retirement after more than 40 years of
distinguished service to Rochester Institute of
Technology
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Deborah Stendardi upon the occasion of her retirement after more than 40
years of distinguished service to Rochester Institute of Technology
(RIT); she will officially retire at the end of December; and
WHEREAS, Deborah Stendardi began her employment with RIT in 1979, as
Director of Government and Community Affair; since then, she has been
promoted to Interim Vice President, and Associate Vice President, before
being named Vice President, the esteemed position from which she will
retire; and
WHEREAS, Prior to joining RIT, Deborah Stendardi served in a variety
of positions for six years with the Commission on Independent Colleges
and Universities in Albany; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her RIT responsibilities, Deborah Stendardi
is very active within the Rochester community, serving in several
volunteer and leadership roles for the United Way and Greater Rochester
Metro Chamber of Commerce, as well as other organizations; and
WHEREAS, Deborah Stendardi, who holds a bachelor's degree from the
State University of New York at Cortland, and a master's degree from
SUNY Albany, was the recipient of the Miller Award given by the United
way to the outstanding campaign coordinator of the year in 1996; and
WHEREAS, For the past 41 years, Deborah Stendardi rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to RIT; in her capacity as Vice
President, she served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Deborah Stendardi upon the occasion of her retirement, and to wish
her well in all her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Deborah Stendardi.
