MOURNING the death of Watrous Polhamus, Jr.,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Watrous Polhamus, Jr. of Binghamton, New York, died on
January 1, 2021; a man of his word, he will be remembered for his
infectious smile, his love of family, and his dedication to his many
friends; and
WHEREAS, Watrous Polhamus, Jr., affectionately known as Watty,
courageously faced any challenge thrown his way; he adored each one of
his animals, and was an avid bowler and golfer; and
WHEREAS, Watrous Polhamus, Jr.'s commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; he was a devoted member of the
Town of Binghamton Volunteer Fire Department Company 58; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his parents, Watrous and Mary Polhamus, Sr.;
in-laws, Roderick and Shirley Clark; and brother-in-law, Rick French,
Watrous Polhamus, Jr. is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lorraine;
daughter, Amy Lynn Polhamus and daughter-in-law, Melissa Korosec
Endicott; siblings, Sharon and Ron Quackenbush, Cathy French, Thomas and
Kathy Polhamus, Kevin Polhamus and Yvonne Pratt, and Jim and Sherri
Figura; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Denny and Jeannine Miller
and Ivan and Patricia Clark; his aunt, Helen Polhamus; and uncles,
Richard and Becky Polhamus, and Donny and Susan Polhamus; as well as a
large extended family, including his brothers and sisters of the Town of
Binghamton Volunteer Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Watrous Polhamus, Jr. leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Watrous Polhamus, Jr., and to offer its sincere
condolences to his family; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Watrous Polhamus, Jr.
