MOURNING the tragic and untimely death of FBI
Agent Daniel Alfin, committed law enforcement
officer, family man and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of
courageous individuals who dedicated their purposeful lives and careers
to serve and protect; and

WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness that this Legislative Body
records the passing of FBI Agent Daniel Alfin, who made the ultimate
sacrifice on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, while serving an arrest warrant
in Sunrise, Florida; and

WHEREAS, Born in New York, Daniel Alfin, 36, worked in the Capital
Region's FBI field office in Albany, New York, from 2009 until 2014;
from there he transferred to Linthicum, Maryland, before moving to his
ideal location in Miami, Florida in 2017; and

WHEREAS, Agent Daniel Alfin, who courageously and steadfastly
investigated crimes against children for seven years, was honored
numerous times for his work taking down global-scale child predators on
the internet, including one that led to nearly 900 arrests; and

WHEREAS, This extraordinary man, with his over-the-top brilliance
and dry wit, will be remembered for the lives he changed and for the
countless children who are safe today because of the measures he took to
protect them; and

WHEREAS, Known for his big heart and fierce dedication to catching
the bad guys, Agent Daniel Alfin truly exemplified what it means to give
of himself in providing vital law enforcement services and in keeping
with the noble mission of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and

WHEREAS, With a tireless and unwavering commitment to his community,
Agent Daniel Alfin was an incredibly selfless man who devoted his entire
life to making the world a better place for all people, earning him the
admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Agent Daniel Alfin truly lived his life with great dignity
and genuine grace, always demonstrating a deep and continuing concern
for the welfare of others; his insight and strength will forever serve
as a beacon of love and hope to the immeasurable lives he touched; and

WHEREAS, Agent Daniel Alfin is survived by his wife, Jessie; and
their 4-year-old son, Eli; as well as his co-workers, family and
friends; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Agent Daniel Alfin leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the tragic and untimely death of FBI Agent Daniel Alfin, noting
the significance of his contributions on behalf of the citizens of this
noble Empire State, and expressing its deepest condolences to his
family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of FBI Agent Daniel Alfin.
