HONORING Charlie Arrowood, Esq. upon the occasion
of their designation as recipient of the 2021
Community Excellence Award, the highest honor
bestowed by the LGBT Bar Association of New York

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Arrowood has given not only of their time and
energies but also of their competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special recognition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Charlie
Arrowood, Esq. upon the occasion of their designation as recipient of
the 2021 Community Excellence Award, to be celebrated virtually at the
LGBT Bar Association Foundation of Greater New York's Annual Gala on
Thursday, February 25, 2021; and

WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as Charlie Arrowood who uphold the values
of community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize the
best of humanity; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Arrowood is Name Change Project counsel at the
Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund and Principal Attorney at
Arrowood Law; and

WHEREAS, Despite wearing numerous hats, Charlie Arrowood is generous
with their time in helping attorneys across the state become better
advocates to the transgender and gender nonconforming communities; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Arrowood has helped ensure countless families, both
in and outside of the New York City metro area, are able to obtain
accurate and affirming documentation with dignity and greater ease; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Charlie Arrowood has
displayed throughout their life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Charlie Arrowood, that future generations may know and appreciate their
admirable character, their many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which they are held by their peers; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Charlie Arrowood, Esq. upon the occasion of their designation as
recipient of the 2021 Community Excellence Award, the highest honor
bestowed by the LGBT Bar Association of New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Charlie Arrowood, Esq.
