MOURNING the death of Joseph F. Kovarik Jr.,
successful businessman, family man, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Joseph F. Kovarik Jr. of Binghamton, New York, died on
Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at the age of 63; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from Alfred University, Joseph F. Kovarik
Jr. entered the family business where he would eventually become the
owner and operator of Kovarik True Value Hardware; and
WHEREAS, Joseph F. Kovarik Jr. distinguished himself in his
profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, Joseph F. Kovarik Jr.'s commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Joseph F. Kovarik Jr. consistently
supported the community by opening during emergencies, getting inventory
during nearly impossible situations, and lending a hand to those that
needed it; this generous and compassionate man also supported several
worthy organizations such as Boy Scouts of America and the Marine Corps;
and
WHEREAS, When he was not managing the store, Joseph F. Kovarik Jr.
could often be found strumming his guitar on his front porch, skiing
Greek Peak, or teeing off at Ely Park; in 2018, he fulfilled one of his
lifelong dreams and played in the pro-am tournament at Enjoie Golf
course; and
WHEREAS, Above all, Joseph F. Kovarik Jr. enjoyed spending time with
his beloved family, especially while vacationing on the beach in Cape
May, New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, Joseph F. Kovarik Jr. is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his
children, Jason (Kristina) Kovarik and Andin (Kyle) Roeber; four
grandchildren, and his parents, Joseph Sr. and Virginia Kovarik, as well
as numerous friends who will long cherish his steadfast and unremitting
commitment to both family and community; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Joseph F. Kovarik Jr. leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Joseph F. Kovarik Jr., successful businessman, family
man, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Joseph F. Kovarik Jr.
