LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the untimely death
of James J. Farina IV, standout golfer, talented
artist and beloved son, grandson and brother
WHEREAS, It is with feelings of deepest regret that this Legislative
Body records the passing of James J. Farina IV, an extraordinary young
man of indomitable faith and dedication whose short, yet purposeful life
will long serve as a standard to which others might aspire; and
WHEREAS, A young man of boundless energy, James J. Farina IV of
Somers, New York, died on Sunday, at the young age of 17; and
WHEREAS, James J. Farina IV was a talented golfer who earned his
first varsity letter as an eighth-grader; this rising star competed in
Junior Tournaments in the Met PGA and Hurricane Golf Tour events in
Florida, and won both the Junior Club Championship and Parent/Child
Championship at Mount Kisco Country Club several times; and
WHEREAS, When James J. Farina IV was not practicing his swing or
hitting the links, he loved to build custom golf clubs and was a
hardworking and popular caddy at both Mount Kisco and Alpine Country
Clubs; and
WHEREAS, James J. Farina IV also had an active and vivid imagination
and created spectacular and unique anime drawings and sculptures which
were admired by many; and
WHEREAS, James J. Farina IV is survived by his parents, James and
Eileen Farina; two sisters Grace and Claudia; his grandparents Peter and
Celine Von Esch; four aunts, Melissa Farina, Kristina Von Esch (Robert),
Kerry Von Esch, Erica Weathers (John); and eight cousins, Jack,
Madeline, Bo, Sophia, Rosalie, Robert, Matthew, and Luke, as well as
numerous friends who will long cherish his memory; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his 17 years, James J. Farina IV made many
strong contributions to his community, serving as a role model for his
peers; with his commitment to others, he truly represented the best
development of the potential which is inherent in our most precious
resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, James J. Farina IV, a young man of incredible spirit and
enthusiasm, brought enduring honor to his family through his many
achievements; his shining light and strength will forever serve as a
beacon of love and hope for all who were privileged to have known and
loved such an amazing and dynamic young man; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the untimely death of James J. Farina IV, standout golfer,
talented artist and beloved son, grandson and brother; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of James J. Farina IV.
