HONORING Solome Lemma upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Advocate Award by
FACE Africa on March 20, 2021

WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as Solome Lemma who uphold the values of
community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize the best
of humanity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Solome Lemma
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Advocate Award
by FACE Africa at its Annual WASH Gala at home; due to the ongoing
global pandemic, this auspicious event will be held virtually on
Saturday, March 20, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless
civic and charitable endeavors, Solome Lemma has always given of herself
unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, As Executive Director of Thousand Currents, Solome Lemma
has tirelessly worked to build loving, just, and equitable futures by
mobilizing resources and relationships in support of grassroots groups
and social movements around the world; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Solome Lemma has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Solome Lemma has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Solome Lemma, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Solome Lemma upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Advocate Award by FACE Africa at its Annual WASH Gala on March 20,
2021; and it be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Solome Lemma.
