COMMENDING FACE Africa upon the occasion of
hosting its Annual WASH Gala at home on March 20,
2021

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to call attention
to those events which serve to enhance the cultural enrichment and
preserve the heritage of Africa; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend FACE Africa upon the occasion of hosting its Annual WASH Gala at
home; due to the ongoing global pandemic, this auspicious event will be
held virtually on Saturday, March 20, 2021; and

WHEREAS, The FACE Africa WASH Gala is held annually to raise
awareness and funds for clean water projects for marginalized
communities in remote regions of sub-Saharan Africa; it is also a
celebration of Africans and Friends of Africa making a difference in
their respective industries and communities; and

WHEREAS, This year, FACE Africa's goal is to provide Water,
Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programs and facilities to communities in
rural Liberia and Nigeria; through this vital organization's tireless
efforts, nearly 250,000 lives have been positively impacted; and

WHEREAS, The theme for this year's virtual gala is "Water is
Personal," sparking a global conversation about what water means to each
and every one of us, its importance to our home and family life, our
livelihood, our cultural practices, wellbeing, and our local
environment; the hope is by discussing and celebrating all the different
ways water benefits our lives, we can value water properly and safeguard
it effectively for everyone; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend FACE Africa upon the occasion of hosting its Annual WASH Gala at
home on March 20, 2021; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to FACE Africa.
