MOURNING the death of Phillip Andrew Davis,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Phillip Andrew Davis of Bronxville, New York, died on
Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at the age of 55, due to complications
related to the novel coronavirus; he will be remembered for his big
heart, his wonderful sense of humor, his love of family, and his
dedication to his many friends; and

WHEREAS, Born on December 20, 1964, in Bronx, New York, he graduated
from Mount St. Michael Academy, an all-boys Catholic high school,
located in the Bronx; and

WHEREAS, Phillip Andrew Davis enjoyed growing up and spending time
with his two sisters, Fern and Faith; throughout his life, this New
Yorker loved the Jets, the Knicks, and the New York Yankees; when he was
a young man, he also enjoyed dancing, singing and he loved to DJ; he
truly loved his friends and always kept everyone laughing, going the
extra mile to bring joy to others; and

WHEREAS, Upon graduating from high school, Phillip Andrew Davis
began his illustrious career as a conductor for the Metropolitan Transit
Authority (MTA); after a few years as a conductor, he was promoted to
train operator, the esteemed position from which he would retire; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to his profession, Phillip Andrew Davis worked for
the MTA for over three decades; he thoroughly enjoyed his job, his work,
the people he worked with, and the riders, especially the joy and
laughter of the children; and

WHEREAS, While at his job, Phillip Andrew Davis met the love of his
life, Stacey Davis; although Stacey and Phillip grew up in the same
neighborhood, they did not meet until they worked together on the 2 line
out of the 241st White Plains Road Wakefield Station; and

WHEREAS, Phillip Andrew Davis' commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Phillip Andrew Davis is survived by his wife, Stacey; their
two children, Frank and Shanay; both of his parents, including his
father, who is a retired Mass Transit worker; his co-workers and his
family; and

WHEREAS, Phillip Andrew Davis, who displayed many exceptional
talents and unique qualities, lived an immensely beautiful life built on
compassion, kindness, and respect for others; and


WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Phillip Andrew Davis leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Phillip Andrew Davis, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community, and to offer its sincere condolences to
his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Phillip Andrew Davis.
