CONGRATULATING Pamela O'Connell upon the occasion
of being inducted into the 28th Annual May W.
Newburger Women's Roll of Honor by the Town of North
Hempstead, in conjunction with the observance of
Women's History Month

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those women of achievement within this great Empire State
who have made strong contributions to their communities and who inspire
others through their model citizenship; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Pamela O'Connell upon the occasion of being inducted into
the 28th Annual May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor by the Town of
North Hempstead, in conjunction with the observance of Women's History
Month; and

WHEREAS, Since 1994, the Town of North Hempstead has honored women
who have made a contribution to their community, or have accomplished a
significant achievement through public or private efforts; Pamela
O'Connell is one such woman; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Port Washington, New York, Pamela O'Connell
is a writer and media specialist who has produced and donated hundreds
of press releases, media advisories, brochures, and advertisement flyers
informing the community about various events; and

WHEREAS, As the mother of three children, Pamela O'Connell was
involved with numerous Port Washington school activities such as the
Cultural Arts Committee which was responsible for bringing arts programs
to over 5,000 students, and served as chair for other school-based arts
committees; and

WHEREAS, Pamela O'Connell has also been a major contributor to Port
Washington Public Library, serving in numerous capacities, and Long
Island Together (LIT), a community-based group which advocates for
social justice and organizes programs to support marginalized members of
the local community; she especially enjoys working on LIT's Rapid
Response Networkfit, Jobs for Justice, and the Summer Together Program;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Pamela O'Connell upon the occasion of being inducted into
the 28th Annual May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor by the Town of
North Hempstead, in conjunction with the observance of Women's History
Month; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Pamela O'Connell.
