HONORING Nat Virkler upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2020 Randy Streeter
Senior Citizen of the Year Award by the Lewis County
Office for the Aging

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
senior citizens of the Empire State who, as they reach the fullness of
years, continue to be active and vital participants in the life of their
community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Nat Virkler upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2020 Randy Streeter Senior Citizen of the Year Award by the Lewis County
Office for the Aging, to be recognized at its Older New Yorker's Day
Celebration, on Friday, October 1, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Nat Virkler, a former pastor, has continually demonstrated
extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence and diligent leadership
in his unwavering service to his community and, consequently, has been
selected for this most prestigious honor; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Nat Virkler has given tirelessly of his time and energies to
several local organizations including the First Presbyterian Church in
Lowville, New York, where he has meticulously maintained the grounds for
10 years, utilizing all of his own equipment; and

WHEREAS, In addition, this extraordinary man has spent countless
hours driving residents of his community to vital appointments and has
brought meals to those who were unable to leave their homes during the
COVID-19 pandemic; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by
individuals for the benefit of others which Nat Virkler has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, Nat Virkler has enriched the lives of his family, friends
and colleagues through his love and respect for others, and through the
wisdom which comes from many years of living life to the fullest; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Nat Virkler, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Nat Virkler upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2020 Randy Streeter Senior Citizen of the Year Award by the Lewis
County Office for the Aging; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Nat Virkler.
